Meeting Dates: August 11, 2014; 10:00am - 12:00pm

Description: One of the most widely used tools in Moodle (and other CMS) is the discussion forum.  Using the forum effectively can make or break an online or blended course.  In this session we will look at getting the most out of forums by developing good prompts, choosing the proper type of forum, policies for appropriate student use, and expected instructor participation.  We will also look at similar tools within Moodle like journals and wikis (or the possibility of audio forums) and how to decide between the tools.  Finally we will take a look at web-based tools that can be used like VoiceThread for similar needs.

Facilitator: Terry Bese
