Here’s a quick look at what’s happening at the intersection of Higher Education and Technology:

Designing Effective Team Projects in Online Courses

Excerpt:
According to “The Impact of Technology on College Student Study Habits,” 87% of college students report that having access to data analytics regarding their academic performance can have a positive impact on their learning experience. The finding suggests that students seek the same immediate feedback in the classroom as they do in social media and that this can be beneficial to learning.

Game-Based Learning Has Practical Applications for Nontraditional Students

Excerpt:
Nontraditional students…want to know that what they’re learning has concrete applications in the real world. “We really see relevance for GBL [game-based learning] in pure practice, being able to apply what you’re learning.” Role-playing games, for example, set the context for nursing students to try interacting with patients in a safe environment.

Making Videos Interactive

Excerpt:
I didn’t want to create anything too big or too complex, so my idea was to use four questions and I would be in the centre of the screen with the questions around me. When you click on a question, the video answer would play. I also had an idea to add an ‘introduction’ clip which give some instruction as to what to do – so I’d need five clips altogether.
