Getting Up and Running

You'll have access to WeVideo starting April 15, 2026. Here's the fastest path to getting comfortable with the platform.

Recommended first step: Complete the free Certified Educator mini-certification (~2 hours). It's a fun, hands-on walkthrough that covers all the essentials for creating and editing videos, using classroom tools, and building interactive assessments.

You can also attend one of two live webinars hosted by WeVideo experts — the first April 8, 2026 and the second April 22, 2026. These sessions cover both content creation and building interactive assessments. Registration details will be shared via email.

Transition & Migration
What is happening with Vidgrid?
Fresno Pacific University is transitioning from Vidgrid to WeVideo as our video hosting and creation platform. WeVideo goes live on April 15, 2026. New video creation in Vidgrid will be disabled for faculty starting April 16. You will still be able to view, share, and embed existing Vidgrid videos in Canvas through June 30, 2026. After that date, Vidgrid will be fully retired and all Vidgrid embeds in Canvas will stop working.
Have my Vidgrid videos been moved to WeVideo?
Yes. The migration of videos from Vidgrid to WeVideo is now complete. During April and May 2026, please visit your WeVideo dashboard to confirm all of your videos are present. Zoom recordings older than 13 months with no plays were not migrated — if you need any of these, you can download them from Vidgrid and upload them to WeVideo manually. Note that most old Zoom recordings are class sessions with students from prior semesters, and FERPA laws mean they typically cannot be reused in future courses.
What if some of my videos are missing from WeVideo?
If you notice videos that didn't migrate, you can download the original from Vidgrid and upload it to your WeVideo account. Detailed instructions for this process are available here. Please complete this verification during April–May 2026 while Vidgrid is still accessible.
What happens to Vidgrid videos I have embedded in Canvas courses?
Existing Vidgrid embeds in Canvas will continue to work through June 30, 2026. Starting July 1, those embeds will break. You should begin replacing Vidgrid links and embeds in your active courses with the corresponding WeVideo links as soon as possible. Academic Program Leads should also update links in master course shells for their programs.
Can I still create videos in Vidgrid?
Only until April 15th. Starting April 16, 2026, new video creation in Vidgrid is disabled for faculty. All new videos must be created in WeVideo. If for any reason you do create content in Vidgrid between April 15 and June 30 (for example, content created by students who still have access), that content will need to be manually downloaded and uploaded to WeVideo before June 30 to preserve it.
When do I need to have everything moved over?
The hard deadline is June 30, 2026. After that date, Vidgrid is fully retired — you will no longer be able to access, view, or download anything from Vidgrid. All embedded Vidgrid content in Canvas will stop functioning on July 1. We strongly encourage you to verify your migrated videos and begin updating course embeds well before this deadline.
Access & Canvas Integration
How do I access WeVideo?
There are two ways. You can access WeVideo directly from within Canvas LMS by enabling it in your course's Navigation settings. You can also go directly to wevideo.com/sign-in and log in with your university Single-Sign-On (SSO) credentials. Use the Office365 button.
How do I embed WeVideo content in my Canvas course?
Starting April 15, 2026, the WeVideo tool will be available in the Canvas Rich Content Editor. This means you can embed WeVideo content directly into pages, assignments, discussions, and announcements within Canvas, just as you would with any other external tool in the editor.
Can staff members who don't teach courses use WeVideo?
Yes. Every active faculty, staff, and student at Fresno Pacific University will have access to WeVideo. Staff who don't use Canvas can access WeVideo directly at wevideo.com/sign-in using their university Single-Sign-On (SSO) credentials. Use the Office365 button.
Features & Capabilities
What can I do with WeVideo that I couldn't do with Vidgrid?
WeVideo goes well beyond basic video hosting. It includes a full multimedia editing suite with over one million royalty-free stock assets, green screen compositing, multi-track editing, audio mixing, and effects like the Ken Burns animation. It also includes screencasting, real-time collaboration, a classroom management system with assignments, an assignment ideas library, and interactive video features like quiz overlays and branched learning paths.
What are interactive videos, and how do I create them?
Interactive videos let you overlay questions (such as multiple-choice), create branched learning paths, and add other interactive elements on top of video content. Faculty and staff have access to these features by default. You can access them by selecting Multimedia → Interactivity from the top-left menu, or by clicking Interactive Videos in the left sidebar. The Certified Educator certification and the April webinars both cover how to get started with interactivity.
Can my students create interactive videos for assignments?
Students do not have interactive video features by default, but they gain access to those tools when you create an assignment that invites them to use interactivity. This gives you control over when and how students engage with these more advanced capabilities.
Can students collaborate on video projects together?
Yes. WeVideo supports real-time collaboration, meaning students can co-edit video or podcast projects from separate devices. You can also set up classes, roster students, invite co-teachers, and create group assignments with collaborative features built in.
Does WeVideo have templates I can use?
Yes. WeVideo includes a wide variety of professionally designed templates to help you get started quickly. You can also create and save your own custom templates to streamline your workflow for future projects.
Troubleshooting
WeVideo isn't loading properly or my video won't play. What should I try?
Start with these steps:
StepDetails
Update your browserMake sure Chrome or Firefox is on the latest version.
Clear cache & cookiesClear your browser's cache and cookies, then reload.
Disable extensionsBrowser extensions can interfere with the editor and player.
Try incognito modeOpen WeVideo in a private/incognito window to rule out extension conflicts.
Try a different browserIf Chrome isn't working, try Firefox — or vice versa.
Try a different deviceIf on a tablet, try a desktop or laptop computer.
Try a different networkSwitch to a different Wi-Fi network and disable your VPN.
Enable third-party cookiesSome browsers block third-party cookies by default, which can prevent content from loading.

For the best experience, use Chrome on a laptop or desktop. If issues persist, contact support.

Why do students have to click play multiple times on interactive videos?
If an interactive video uses an external source like YouTube or Vimeo, the video is embedded via an iframe. Most browsers have strict autoplay policies for embedded content, so students may need to click play once for the interactive player and then again for the embedded video itself. WeVideo has built-in autoplay logic to minimize this, but not all LMS environments support it. This is a browser limitation, not a bug.
My students are using iPads. Are there special settings they need?
Yes. For iPad users accessing interactive content, recommend the following settings:
Browser/AppSettings
Chrome on iOSDisable Block Pop-ups · Enable Allow Cross-website Tracking · Enable Third-party Cookies
SafariDisable Block Pop-ups · Disable Prevent Cross-site Tracking
Canvas AppEnable Allow Cross-website Tracking · Disable Reset Cache on Next Launch

Also ensure iOS is up to date, and avoid using incognito/private mode for assignments so data transfers properly between platforms.
